What if a pigeon gets inside my house, bedroom, kitchen, etc.?
Unless you’re a pigeon aficionado, racer or collector; you don’t like pigeons inside your house. Even those who keeps pigeons as a sport don’t keep them inside their houses, special exclusions apply. Most of us don’t even like them outside let alone flying around or house causing property damage by breaking precious items or expelling droppings throughout the house. Here are some quick tips to quickly and efficiently get rid of a pigeon from an unwanted area of the house.
To deal with a pigeon in the house quickly and efficiently, you could trap the pigeon to a certain area of the house in order to contain it. This would be ideal so you can contain the damage and also it will make it easier to remove the pigeon without using force or it costing you money. The idea is to confine the pigeon in a room with a window so that it can leave, with some of your help. Try enticing the pigeon to leave on its own by placing some food near the window and they slowly trying to encourage the pigeon towards the window.
In case this remedy doesn’t work or you cannot get the pigeon to a room with windows; you have another option. You could purchase, or some of you might even have it in your garage or basement, a fish net. As you can imagine the idea here is to trap the pigeon into the net and to try to safely remove it from the house. The issue we run into here are that the bird might get injured if the net catches it the wrong way. Also, you might get injured if you need to climb to reach the pigeon. Also watch out for any hanging electrical devices such as ceiling fans or light fixtures. These can be a huge hazard!
Pigeons can be a nuisance when outdoors, but they can be an even bigger nuisance when inside our house. Make sure that you are taking preventative measures if you live in high-traffic pigeon areas. Things such as window screens can help in preventing this problem. In case you do end up with a pigeon in your house; follow the above suggestions but make sure TO STAY SAFE!
