What is the best material to exclude pigeons?
The best material to exclude pigeons from an area in my opinion is the wire mesh netting. I chose the wire mesh netting since it is used by the government to secure their property from pigeons; it must be good! It’s a slight joke with some truth to it. The government does use it to cover the underside of bridges also to box in expensive property that is usually found on the roof and might be affected by pigeons, such as air-conditioning units.
It is a fairly inexpensive item that can be more aesthetically pleasing than some of its counterparts. It comes in a variety of sizes, gauges and compositions based on your needs. It also easy to install over a wide area with the help of a professional installer or a smaller area as a DIY project. This product is great for those with gardens and wine yards that need protecting from pigeons. It is also a favorite amongst contactors big and small for installation over HVAC units either on the roof or on the sides of the building where pigeons like to gather and nest.
Some of the issues I have encountered with wire mesh netting is the is that is clunky, heavy and hard to manipulate. Although you supporting structure doesn’t need to be as complex as with some other types of netting; wire mesh netting still requires enough support for it to be mounted. Sometimes this can pose a problem if you don’t want to dish out extra cash for digging post holes or to have it mounted by a professional.
If you want a good sturdy product to protect your property from pigeons; go with wire mesh netting. It will last a long time and it can be customized to look great on any property or any project. The numerous gauges of netting provide you with an easy application guide, depending on how big your pigeons are. Once installed, it doesn’t require any further tweaking and is a very sturdy option for all climate types whether you live in a desert or on a mountain.
